Fulcrum Sharq 57: The New Benchmark in Aerodynamic Road Bike Wheels

At the heart of the Fulcrum Sharq 57 is the 2-Wave Rim FF100, a patent-pending rim design born from extensive wind tunnel testing. With a variable rim height from 57 to 62 mm, it reduces aerodynamic drag by 10% compared to the Sharq 42 at 45 km/h with 30 mm tires. The wave profile—symmetrical at the nose and asymmetrical on the sides—ensures excellent crosswind stability and consistent performance.

Despite the high rim profile, the wheelset weighs just 1,520 g, thanks to Fulcrum’s proprietary carbon layup and MoMag Technology, which keeps the inner rim bed undrilled for enhanced fiber continuity. The result is a stiff yet compliant structure, optimized for both racing and high-intensity training.

The new A3RO spokes (3 mm wide, 0.8 mm thick) are engineered for maximum airflow efficiency. The 2:1 lacing pattern and no-touching spoke system maintain perfect tension over time, eliminating the need for mechanical adjustments. The minimalist Cup & Cone hub design houses premium USB™ ceramic bearings, offering exceptional smoothness and durability.

Compared to the Fulcrum Speed 57, the Sharq 57 improves handling by +6.3%, providing more intuitive and precise control. The wider 25 mm internal rim channel (+2 mm vs Speed 57) allows for larger tires at lower pressures (2.5–4.5 bar), increasing vibration damping and long-ride comfort.
